About Us

Who we are, what we believe, and where we're headed as a church.

Who we are

We're a brand new faith community that strives to live out and share the practice of a Jesus centered faith that produces love and peace in each of our lives because everyone is created for wholeness.

Websters dictionary defines wholeness as "the quality or state of being without restriction, exception or qualification."

We believe you were created by a God who deeply loves you as you are. Simple.

We also believe that a healthy relationship with God can produce in you real peace, joy, love, kindness and more.

At Willamette Valley Church, we hope that you...can be you...and that as with all of us...we can become more whole...without restriction, exception or qualification.

What we believe

Our Values help to guide us as a community in how we interact with one another and how we share this message.

We have 3 main values that we believe will help to do this:

  1. WE ARE: People In Process - No one of us has this all figured out. We're all on a faith journey and no one of us have "arrived."
  2. WE ARE PEOPLE WHO INTEGRATE: Practice over Performance - Each step of our life is a practice, and in becoming more whole...we ease the need to put on a performance for others.
  3. WE ARE PEOPLE WHO: Live Generously - We share our time, our wisdom, our resources for any and all.

But really...what do you believe about...

To begin with, we’re a Jesus-centered community. We trust the Bible as it points us to Jesus. Outside of that, you’ll find quite a diversity of theological perspectives within our church community. One piece theologically that might be different from any prior church experience, is that we are a Gay affirming church. Some people use the term "open and affirming."

What it means is that as a leadership team, we believe that God created you...as you are...and your gender identification or sexuality does not need to be changed at all to be seen as whole in the eyes of your creator...so it doesn't need to be changed for us either. If you identify with LGBTQIA+, we want you to know that not only are you welcome in this faith community...you are loved...just the way you are. Now, it's entirely possible that some people in our faith community might be working through this theological position...and they may have a different idea when it comes to what the scriptures say about your sexuality...just like there are many differing views theologically between us all...but the leadership team of Willamette Valley Church (staff and board) are all in agreement on this.

If you have ANY questions, we really hope you'll reach out and spend some time with one of our staff.
